Your Plan to Go from Discouraged to Dedicated

Oct 16, 2024

Happy Sunday Coach!

The Busy Coach July Training Series is set.  I will cover how to organize, lead, systematize yourself, your staff, your program, and your recruiting throughout the month of July.  Take a look.

Ok, for this article.  Think back on what you did this last week: did you complete the actions you set out to do? Did you work in a way that allowed you to enter the weekend with satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment?

If so, congratulations! If not, don’t worry—we can fix it.

Not sure about you, but I often find myself getting discouraged when I fail to follow through and do the things I know I should be doing.

When I was still coaching, this caused me to feel like I was behind. It felt like other coaches were getting ahead so much easier than I was.  I started to question myself and my abilities.

I was putting in long hours, but I wasn’t developing the momentum I wanted.

I spent a lot of time and money trying to figure out how to fix it.

Of all of the strategies I tried, the thing I found to be the most effective was to establish DIFFERENT behavioral patterns and rhythms.

And not just any random behavioral pattern and rhythm.

Not all behavior is created equal.

You have probably heard the saying, what got you here won’t get you there.  You can’t expect to keep doing the same things to get better results.

I believe that setting up and leveraging NEW behavioral patterns and daily rhythms are the key to unlocking your full potential.

Now that I am consulting coaches, I often teach about the idea of establishing and maintaining a rhythm.

A rhythm is: every day, this happens; Every week, this happens; Every month, this happens; And every, year this happens.

Like clockwork.

For example:

Old daily rhythm: Start my day responding to emails.

New daily rhythm: Start with your most important task first.

Old weekly rhythm: Show up on Monday and react to whatever shows up.

New weekly rhythm: Look at your master list and proactively plan the week.

Old monthly rhythm: If I didn’t get the results I wanted, just work harder and longer (Which lead me to burning out).

New monthly rhythm: Watch your “game film.” Review your progress and tweak your strategies if need be.

It’s not rocket science.

Just by working the rhythm, we develop greater progress.

Without a rhythm, you're in randomness.

When you're in randomness, you can't really tell if you're gaining any momentum at all.

Randomness leads to discouragement and stagnation. But with a rhythm, you build momentum over time.

I believe that coaches who get ahead in this profession are consistent in their actions.

And they believe that each small step contributes to larger breakthroughs.

You must believe that momentum is built over time.

You got to work the system, as they say, right? You got to keep at it. It takes a long amount of consistency to ever get those big breakthroughs.

It's okay that the week isn't perfect, or the day isn't perfect.

Just find your rhythm again and work it.

I want to help you create the disciplines and routines that drive success.
