We work and work and are busy jumping from one thing to the next, but we leave the day feeling like we didn’t get any significant work done to build our programs. Your performance as a coach will go up, significantly in fact, when you just slow down.
When social media became a hot thing for coaches to use for their recruiting, I tried to respond to every message, every tweet, every time, on time. I watched every trend. I liked every meme. And at the end of the day, I was exhausted, demoralized, and unsure of whether I had actually made any progress with anything.
If you just sit down and try to come up with a brilliant message that will get opened, read, and returned, you may find yourself wasting a lot of time staring at a blank screen as you try to figure out what to write. And there’s a pretty good chance that the quality won’t be high.
This recruiting goals list gives me purpose, direction, and helps me remember what to write, all of which helps to reduce the time it takes to get a message written and helps to get the quality up.
